| I was born in the year 2520! I'm going to start wearing silver spandex to school everyday.
The Thai calendar starts the year Buddha was born. This is 2551. (For those of you doing the math: I'm only 30! My birthday is at the end of the year.)

| I just went through tons of people's sites on facebook and still have no idea what is going on in anyone's lives. What's the point? I do love the visual bookshelf application.
I'm in Thailand! I've been here for a few weeks now. I start language school on Wednesday. Yay! I have slightly unreliable wireless internet right in my apartment. Double Yay! I just found a way to get on the network of the hotel next door from the breezeway when the wireless here is down. Triple Yay!
My entire apartment is lavender. Not so yay. There are pictures of cats on my walls. Definite not yay. The pictures can be taken down and stuffed into a closet when I find something to replace them. Back to Yay!
I take no responsibility for the content of this post as I am still suffering from the effects of jet lag and culture shock.
Louisa
PS I have a guest bedroom open to any of my friends who are able to bring posters worth framing for the replacing of the cats. Write for more details.
PPS One of the cats has a see through belly with a dead mouse in it.

| There are so many acronyms in missions. It is very much like the military. We are at Pre-field Orientation in Wheaton, IL. After this, we'll be attending ICCT. I actually have no idea what that stands for. I guess I'll find out next week! I'm gonna get coffee with Kibibi sometime. I'd love to connect with any of you who are in the area between now and the 29th. |

| I'm making my packing list. I know it's early. My church wants to help buy some of the things I'll need. What do I need? I have no idea how to plan for Asia. What are the top 5 things you would make sure to have with you for four years in Thailand? |

| I'm really excited to be finally starting my career. At the same time I am already feeling the pain of goodbyes. Last night I went to an Oscar party with the boys from the bowling alley. This was my third and last oscar party with them. I'm taking each kid from my sunday school class out for some one on one time- my last chance to hang out with them before I teach my last class. Last week, we had what will probably be my last snow. It all melted by noon, but was beautiful on the drive to work. Last month, we celebrated my brother's birthday--my last family birthday party until I leave. It's silly to be thinking this way so soon. I don't leave until August.
I'm taking care of my Grandmother today. She has Alzheimer's and can't speak or walk. I spent the last hour trying to get her to eat cottage cheese and pureed pears. She is beginning to forget what she is supposed to do with food. In a way she is already gone. Still, it makes me sad to know that she won't be here when I come home for my first home assignment. I always get a little sad when I spend the day out here. |
